Buy the right solar lamp with motion detector
In the outdoor area of your house above the front door, on the wall of the garage, in the driveway or on the path to the garden, solar wall lights and path lights with motion sensors ensure a safe step in the dark. In addition to path lighting, swivelling solar lights with motion sensors fulfil the function of providing security and burglary protection.
What you should look for in a solar light with motion detector:
- Pay attention to the angle of detection: A motion sensor only has a certain range at which it detects movement. The angle of detection differs for each solar outdoor luminaire model. For example, a 180° angle of detection has a range of about 15 metres.
- Place your solar light in a sunny spot where the solar panel can capture a lot of light. This is efficient because it allows the solar cells to absorb as much sunlight as possible during the day and store it in the battery. An external solar panel has the advantage that you are even more flexible when mounting your solar lamp. On the other hand, an integrated solar panel does not take up any additional space. The capacity of the battery varies from solar light to solar light.
- Only lights when you need it: Solar lights with motion detectors are economical and environmentally friendly. Not only do they draw their energy from the sun, they also only come on when they are needed and switch off again automatically after a certain time. You can also control them with a remote control and set the timer as needed.
- Not every lamp is suitable for outdoor use: a solar lamp with motion detector should have the appropriate IP protection rating so that it is equipped for any weather and protected from foreign objects. The protection class for outdoor lighting should be at least IP44. Also, a waterproof housing made of stainless steel or plastic is best suited to get your solar lamp with motion detector through any season.
