Functions of Light Tubes
A light tube provides luminous accents in indoor or outdoor areas. Due to a wide beam angle, the light of a rope light can illuminate a large area. In addition, an LED tube impresses with these functions:
- Light colour: Light tubes can shine in the light colours warm white, neutral white and daylight white. Their different colour shades make them suitable for a wide variety of applications. Warm white light creates a cosy atmosphere in the living room, daylight white light illuminates work areas.
- RGB and RGBW: The hues red, green and blue are the basis of the RGB colour model, which are mixed to create a large number of colours. LED light hoses not only cover these colour ranges but also have monochrome white light with their RGBW function.
- Waterproof: For outdoor use, a waterproof LED tube is recommended so that there is no risk of a short circuit in case of rain.
- Formable: Light tubes can be formed flexibly. For example, the tubes can be rolled without any problems. This feature facilitates their installation on uneven walls and furniture or on objects with special shapes.
Possible Applications of LED Rope Lights
LED light tubes are an energy-saving option that consume little power at high output and are therefore highly energy-efficient. Their special shape and light colour make them suitable for the following applications:
- Outdoors, light tubes provide optimal lighting in the garden, on the balcony or on the terrace.
- The caravan can also be creatively illuminated - hung outside in the entrance area, the vehicle becomes an absolute eye-catcher on the campsite.
- Light tubes can also be used indoors as an alternative to fairy lights and as decoration. For example, they can serve as Christmas lighting in the living rooms. Decorative versions with red light are ideal for setting the Christmas mood. Those who like it more simple can use an LED rope light with white light to decorate the Christmas tree.
Shortening the Rope Light
Due to their series connection of LEDs, rope lights cannot be easily shortened like strips, because otherwise the electric circuit would be interrupted. However, the rope light consists of different units of light segments, each of which is interconnected. It is therefore possible to cut the rope light at the end of each unit, which are indicated on the rope light. If the rope light is cut, it is essential to close the ends with suitable end caps, for example, otherwise there is a risk of electric shock. This process can be circumvented by choosing the appropriate length, as rope lights are available in lengths from 7 to 20 metres for different wall lengths or window sizes.
